First look at real currents
Still trying to figure out best way to present data and generate some exercises for folks to follow along with, but here is a quick look at the ocean in front of them and the areas we need to look out for now... as it appears at this early date.
We see that even though mesoscale eddies are not likely along this route we do have several areas we can see notable activity. This will certainly change as time passes. For this moment, the currents just offshore in Dakar are setting to the SW at well over 1 kt (yellow and tan part).
We will have updated data when we learn the actual departure date... which could be in next week or so. Our WAG estimates now are leave before MLK day and arrive before the Vernal Equinox.
